bio of an indecisive taru:
back when i started this journal, and before i really had gotten farther than Qufim, i had decided to be what i liked to call a "greymage" hence the graphic at the top (which i think i lost the source file for). I hadn't seen the world, or really seen much of the game. hell, i hadn't even made it to 30 yet.

that was back in early 2004. now, four fcuking years later with a bit more under my belt, i feel that the title should be changed to "indecisive taru" which i feel better fits the past 4 years of FFXI.

the shortened timeline should follow something like this:
  • kaia started off as a WHM originally planning to sub BLM until he found out how much fun it was to nuke. then it became a 1 and 1 when leveling, figuring that they used the same armor, why not level both at the same time? he leveled both like that all the way to 40.
  • joined a Linkshell to create a static party who used to play weekly. he was a Bard/Ninja puller along with four close RealLife friends, and his wife. Group leveled about once a week for just over a year, going from 20 to 60.
  • when not in the Linkshell, he leveled RDM, as the most logical WHM-BLM crossover.
  • just before the static group split, they were planning on switching things up, and he was going to play BLM again, which required getting it from 40 to 60 asap. he did, and was just starting to love Ancient Magic when ...
  • static group broke off as people abandoned the game for RealLife(tm) everyone was just barely 60.
  • he proceeded to spend lots of time getting "subjobs" to 37. WAR/SAM/THF/DRK/NIN with every job at the time unlocked. he learned the value of playing solo, pretty much dual-box power leveling himself for all of those subjob levels, valkrum be damned.
  • Treasures of Aht Urhgan was released, completely changing how people viewed leveling 50+.
  • with no static, he decided to finally get something to 75, and RDM was the first to get there.
  • BRD quickly followed to 75, as every party loves bard. and a puller! in one package. he'd get invites without his flag up, within minutes of logging on. bard got old and tiring, as it was never ending movement, with lots of responsibility. o.o
  • most of the original group came back to the game, and they all joined a much bigger linkshell, to fully enjoy the game with other people who played to have fun, just like they did.
  • after leveling BRD, suddenly broke, he decided to start leveling THF and farming to pay for all that gear he wished he could have. (doesn't everyone have wishes?)
  • since THF is lower on the invite scale, and being in the fray suddenly became more fun with updates, SAM started to become a reality. first JSE was obtained, for SAM.
that pretty much brings things current. lots of time spent in game; as of writing: 196 days, 18 hours.

... and i still can't decide what to do.
